How Will the Senior Staff Accountant Contribute?

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of monthly financial analysis reports, developing and maintaining department budget variance explanations. The successful candidate will also assist with the collection of pertinent information for third party audits and analysis.

 

Responsibilities:

· Assist with the monthly and quarterly financial closing process and prepare reporting package.

· Responsible for the daily accounting operations including A/R, A/P, T&E, & Treasury.

· Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.

· Manage fixed assets.

· Prepare high quality work papers and supporting schedules.

· Support external quarterly and annual audit requirements.

· Assist with corporate, sales, and local tax return filings and coordinate with tax professionals as necessary: complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements

· Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions

· Prepare selected balance sheet account analysis on a monthly basis.

· Prepare main account bank reconciliations on a monthly basis. Ensure all cash transactions are properly and timely recorded, and verify that general ledger agrees with bank balances.

· Reconciles the general operating account and enters the cash journals into the General Ledger.

· Assist with monthly preparation of financial reports and financial statements under the guidance of senior level accounting personnel.

· Act as a resource during the annual audit by providing supporting documentation as requested.

· Perform special projects, such as the company’s new eCommerce initiative, to assist the department and the Company in achieving its goals and objectives.

· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications and participating in bi-monthly webinars.

 

Position Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

· 3+ years of experience in Accounting.

· Proficient in Quickbooks Desktop (REQUIRED)

· Experience with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

· Strong written and oral communication skills to support client requests.

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Strong organizational and analytical skills.

· Able to read and understand technical forms and financial reports.

· Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

· Effective time management skills, self- motivated, critical attention to detail.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment with firm deadlines.
